GENEVIEVE ELIZABETH HURD, 77 of 16900 Lakeview Court, Hagerstown, Md. died on Thursday July 29, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital.
Born May 15, 1933 in Security, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Miller and Mercle Gaither Gess.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jesse R. Hurd, Sr. who died June 28, 2009. They had been married for 59 years.
She was a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 40 years.
She worked along side her husband and sons in the family business, Jesse R. Hurd Painting . She also worked at Hagerstown Shoe factory for many years.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by three daughters, Belinda M. Grove and husband Braden H. of Greencastle, Pa., Rose M. Wood and husband Steven J. of Hagerstown, and Kitty E. Lynn and husband Woody of Hagerstown; and two sons, Jesse R. Hurd, Jr. and wife, Sissy of Martinsburg, West Va. and Wesley C. Hurd and wife, Barbara May of Waynesboro, Pa.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lesley Paul Hurd; two sisters, Dorothy Dubel and Diane Stone and a brother, Robert Gess.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday August 2, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 30 Nottingham Road, Hagerstown, Md.
There will be no viewing.
The family has requested that flowers be omitted and memorial donations be made to The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 30 Nottingham Road, Hagerstown, Md. 21740.
