RUTH CATHERINE WETZEL MCMANUS, 91, of Hagerstown, Maryland, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Monday, July 26, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, the love of her life, James McManus in 1994. They were married on September 20, 1941 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.
Born in Washington County, Maryland on November 5, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Roy Cleveland and Sadie Josephine Rogers Wetzel.
She was employed as a cook by the Washington County Hospital, retiring in 1982.
She was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church in New Windsor, Maryland
She is survived by two daughters, Judy Ann Ireland of Westminster, Maryland, and Bonnie LaRue Brown of Smithsburg, Maryland; one son, Monty McManus of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Diana Cavanagh and Lisa Ireland Hoey, both of Westminster, Maryland, Austin A. Brown and Adam D. Brown, both of Smithsburg, Maryland; great-grandson, John Casey Cavanagh of Westminster, Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Leola Elizabeth Domer, Catharine Guessford, Thelma Wetzel, and Edna Wetzel; brothers, Earl Kneisley Wetzel, Ralph Herman Wetzel, Raymond Wetzel, Paul Wetzel, and Russell Wetzel.
There will be a private graveside service.
There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul's Methodist Church, 200 Main Street, New Windsor, Maryland 21776.
